DISCIPLINE; AS A MOTHER TO GREATNESS

If I could write out the desires of my heart, starting from my personal desires down to my loved ones and most especially to the most beautiful person in this world, my Mother, I tell you, the skies of the world would not be enough to write all of them.

Each time, I listen to the calling of my bed, it looks like all my dreams have been accomplished but the moment I wake up in the morning, I begin to realize the race I ran yesterday is still incomplete, the task I started yesterday has not reached a stage of completion, the ideas I had on my mind yesterday have not been transformed from soft copy to hard one.  With these burning on my mind, I see reasons for the need to turn every stone left unturned and I found myself in the circle of a woman called Discipline and these are the revelations she busted into my sight.

If success in life is achieved by the number of hours spent, I know of some people that should be richer than Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and even Mike Adenuga of this world. The fact is, the yardstick to success is not measured through the number of hours spent, at the same time, I wouldn't shy away from another fact that says it is important to make efforts in life dealings.

Another point is this, if success is achieved through education, I think someone like Wole Soyinka should have been one of the richest men in this world. I never said education can not bring about success or greatness. What am saying is that education is not the key tool in the hands of a successful person.

If success is measured through righteousness I think Job should have been richer than Solomon who had many wives and numerous concubines. It was never mentioned that he was unable to cater for them in the bible.

Honestly speaking, I sat here and I began to punch the door that leads to success, to the extent of taking a tractor with an attempt to pull it down but all my efforts resulted into futility until I saw the appearance of a young, tiny boy moving towards the door that led to success with a key firmly held in his hands, as he walked closer to the door, he shifted his head to where I was standing and gave me a pitiful look, finally he opened the door I have been struggling to open for hours with just a shift of the key to the right and lo and behold the door opened widely.

My hands were placed on my head as I saw prosperity, blessings, promotion, riches of life bowing down to the tiny figure of that little boy. It was when I realized that success in life is not measured by age, it is measured by recognition.

Honestly speaking, success is never achieved or measured through your level of education, righteousness and endless efforts made, good success is geared through consistent discipline.

You may be righteous in your own eyes, you might have achieved a lot of academic awards to your very self, you may even be staying late in the office and still lacking this tool called Discipline.

In every day of our lives, discipline comes into play, I will like you to adjust your seat, please do so because of the facts you are about to read now ;

One of the reasons why many have not reached the tunnel of their destinies is their inabilities to be disciplined.

When you focus on the journey of your life and there are storms on every side as you move on, will you continue on the journey or lose focus?

Many drew plans but the moments the storms began to blow, they surrender to the power of the storms.

A disciplined person is an endurable person, sometimes, discipline may take the whole of you on the journey but will reward you with unimaginable harvests in return.

I guess this may sound unbelievable to you, it's basically the truth, the mother that gives birth to success is known as discipline.

Maybe you never knew that success dwells inside "Discipline", I can as well say that success wears discipline as a cloth. So tell me how can a man who desires good success and not subject himself to the romance of discipline, it is practically impossible for that man to continuously excel in his life dealings, the life wire of success is named
"Discipline".

Success loves to wine and dine in the house of a woman that is practically called Discipline.  Just tell me how far would you go in life, if you do not bow under the authority of discipline. There has always been an emotional romance that exists between success and discipline, they are inseparable.

However, it has been discovered that many of us are not truly disciplined in thoughts and in actions and that has caused us a lot of delays in our life dealings.

Do you remember when an opportunity that could change your destiny walks up to you? Do you remember how you trampled it on the ground consciously or unconsciously and gave yourself into the pleasures of the moments.?

It takes a disciplined man not to settle even when feels comfortable, he still presses on because he is a man who is hungry for success.

I need you to know, every success is not tied to ancestral curses or spiritual bondage, many are tied to our ignorance.

The scripture says that there is no food for a lazy man, a man that is not disciplined is regarded as a lazy man because a disciplined man can not be lazy.

The journey of success calls for your discipline in your thoughts and your actions. If you are not disciplined in that little thing, how would you be qualified for the bigger ones?

I sit here pondering and reflecting on the numbers of opportunities we have lost, simply because we could not dance to the beat of discipline.

How easy is it for a lover of ice cream to accompany her friend to a Dominos Pizza where all kind of ice creams are sold and deny herself the pleasure of not buying the stone that is cold(smile)?

How easy for a man that is flirt and is stuck in, with a lady who has all the external features that drive men crazy, is it easy for such a man who is easily controlled by the flesh to resist the temptation of such lady?

How easy for the lover of food to observe fasting especially when he was mandated to do so and he could perceive the aroma of his favorite food that has just been freshly cooked by his dear wife?.

Discipline is a consistent tool in the hands of a man who desires to be successful in life.

You never knew how far you would have reached in life if your life is tailored through the set standards of discipline.

You never knew the bridge you would have crossed if you have been dancing to the beats played by Discipline.

You really can not tell maybe you would have reached beyond that mental picture of what you desire for yourself.

Discipline can also be said to mean the ability of a man to sacrifice something in place of what he desires to achieve.

Discipline is like a ball on the legs of a striker who desires to be one of the top scorers, am sure you know he must be able to deny himself of so many pleasurable things because he must be able to do some unique things with the ball. When other players are there resting, he must be on the field driving out some crazy skills ahead of the match.

"Discipline is denying yourself the pleasures of the moments in order to key into the pleasure of the future that has no end"

Discipline is dying to the present and living for the future, this is a definition that has been practically impossible to adhere to in today's world.

 Can you stand out differently and deny yourself of the pleasures of now in order to access the pleasures of the future?

Can you sacrifice all that you have for the moment in order to gain all that you can never imagine you could be in possession of in years to come?

When the cross of life was placed on Jesus' shoulders, he never denied the cross and waved it, he continued carrying and dragging that heavy cross placed on his shoulders and he eventually gave birth to greatness.


In his name there are; honor, deliverance, salvation, love and the goodies of life, just at the mention of his name every knee has no option than to bow.

Joseph as well denied himself of the pleasures of sleeping with his master's wife in order to earn the reward of discipline in the future. He had every reason to agree with the woman, he knew, he could be set up by the woman, in spite of knowing these facts, he still denied himself of the pleasures of the moments. He became a prime minister, the position heavier than that of his master named Potiphar even in a strange land.

When every area is tight and there is no other escape route, will you still stand for what is right or surrender?

When the journey to victory is pregnant of thorns and pains and they are about to be delivered in your name, will you give the pains the hug and steps on the thorns?

When the ladder to greatness is laced with thorns, will you continue or take the one that is free from thorns presented by the devil?

Discipline is a personal thing as it was for Jesus, Joseph and victorious men and women in the Bible.


Many people as we have it in our society especially youths have begun to engage in immoral practices all in the name of breaking the seal of poverty placed on their family. Many even gave reasons that the country is not helping which made them give in to immoral practices.

I think Joseph had reasons to give, Jesus had reasons to give too, even Daniel had reasons to give but they still stood for what was right in spite of their good reasons.

Discipline is standing alone even if you are the only one that believes in your dream which is right. I tell you, you will be recognized and rewarded by God.

If you truly want to be disciplined, you must be ready to move away from anything that can bring distraction on the journey of your life.
