THE BABY I NEVER HAD

On the early morning of Saturday, around 7, I was snapped out of dreamland through a call from “Da baby”

She dourly said—Adesoji has beaten me again, I can't see clearly again, can you come and take me to a hospital? She added

Where is your husband? I requested and she replied he has left the house, leaving me with our only 🧒🏽

Yea, I could hear her sound-cry reaching my heart like a flash...

Da baby was supposed to be my candy but her daddy frustrated my dream of marrying her till the end, I thought

I will come right away, I assured her my word

I quickly had a shower and drove out my old rugged bike, the only property I inherited from my father...

Da baby deserves smile not tears— I said with tears helping me to tell my pain

This damsel deserves best man...

She was compelled to marry a man her heart has never beat for...

There are many stars in the sky but she is the brightest...

She loves to call me Da bobo and I love to call her Da baby

Her father's message is still ringing in my head...

“You are not a man if you are not with a bag of mazuma”

Francis, Da baby's husband, is one of the sons of the renowned Senator Adefarati...

I am just a teacher, whose salary is never regular

I guess the ball of our love has been hijacked by the storm of wealth...

I was on a reckless ride of saving the woman my heart truly beats for and of course, I know her body is enveloped in the mansion of another man but her heart is very much encapsulated in my arms

Smile and tears were combating for the full expression of duties on my face...

On getting to her residence, I met Da baby gasping for air under the tutelage of pain and regret

Minutes later, Da baby kicked the bucket...

I placed my head on her chest to affirm my suspicions, this time my suspicions were right

I sat down crying and sweating profusely under the cool breeze of air conditioner...

I was down, talking to the lifeless body of Da-baby — I was trying to remind her of how we started...

In the midst of my apologetic mood, I heard the sound-cry of a baby traveling to the sitting room...

I traced the sound-cry to the master-room, there I met an infant hankering for the gentle touch of her mother, I guess

It's a pity, her mother has left this sinful world. I gently wrapped her around my arms and took her to the sitting room

She was an obvious replica of her mother...

I kept saying sorry to Da-baby.I knew she couldn't hear me but that was all I could do

All of a sudden, a figure suddenly materialized from nowhere, and base on my assessment, it was Adesoji, “the monster himself”

You have killed my love and what is my daughter doing in your hands? He retorted!
