A STEP INTO THE PAST



If mistakes were to be permanently corrected or erased in life, I am here wondering the number of lives that would have been able to express their full potentials in life

Sad to say, many lives have defeated their destinies even before they started, said Jide when he emotionally flashed into the memory of his past

If possible the hands of time could even be turned once, I am sure many would have undoubtedly traveled into their past to set things right so that it would not spill dirt into their future

Jide sat there on a stool, discussing with his friends

He tried fighting back tears but he eventually failed in his million attempts


If I had known, I would have obeyed the voices of the elderly ones and am sure my life would be expressing a better meaning by now

How I wish I could take a step into the past and make things right

If I had known that the resources of today are majorly meant for tomorrow's glory  and not totally for today


There I was, carelessly spending away my precious time

There I was thinking, I was making some dances of fame, I never knew, they were all dances of shame

My whole path became clearer after I have carelessly and blindly wasted the most useful part of my existence with "unscrupulous activities"


Straight to the heart was the dagger that was placed on my chest, when I saw youths wasting away their precious time, that would not be available twice

If there is money, lands could be purchased, if there is money, mansions could be bought or built, if there is money, exotic cars could be bought but this thing called "Time" can not  be stopped, paused or deleted

I call it the most angelic and monstrous asset given to humanity

The function of every man's existence is wrapped inside the belly of time

Time has the present, the past and the future all coated inside her belly

If the creator of time couldn't shift the task of creation to another time, all honor to him, he completed this greatest task for 6 days and decided to rest on the seventh rest


Time is better appreciated when you still have the strength to make things right

Don't be like Jide or stop being like Jide who turned deaf ears unto the warnings of the elders

If the result of your present moments could be produced, what do you think will be your grade?

If your children are given the chance to travel into your past, would they come back into "the present" with a smiling face or eyes full of tears?

If our parents were given the chance to correct so many things in their past, I tell you, they would undoubtedly jump to such a rare chance, probably, many of us wouldn't have come into this world

Traveling into the past is a dream that can never come into reality but you can utilize what you have now, which is your present

Day by day, you keep murdering your destiny

If the time is ours, we possibly wouldn't go old, we should have aged for eternity

The bitter truth is, the time is not ours, it belongs to God...

What to do, with every dot of our time is to ensure it is well utilized

Your inability to make the best use of your present moment is a result that would be posted on the notice board of your future

I wish you could think about this and set things right...

I pray you will not be dwelling on past glory when it is time to tell your stories to the world like Jide
